We specialize in the testing of allergic contact dermatitis which is a type of skin rash caused by substances (allergens) coming into contact with the skin and stimulating an immunologic response. These substances can be found in many common products, such as lotions, soaps, gloves, metal products, and hair dyes.
Patch testing is a special, non-invasive technique to identify the specific chemicals that can cause itchy or painful skin rashes in a patient. Identifying and avoiding these triggers can sometimes cure rashes that patients struggle with for years. During patch testing, a small number of various substances to which you may be allergic will be applied to your back and secured in place with an adhesive. Testing does not involve skin pricks, blood draws, or injections. If an allergen is uncovered, we will provide you with information about how to avoid this allergen moving forward.
Our clinic offers testing for a wide array of allergens, including those that can be encountered in an occupational setting (level 4). Testing is guided by every patient's unique history of exposure and exam.

Patch Testing
Have you ever had a rash that just wouldn’t go away? Many people don’t know they have an allergy because reactions are often delayed. Patch testing involves applying a purified allergen to a person’s skin to see if it causes an allergic reaction.
Dry Skin
Dry skin is a very common, benign condition of the skin. Occasionally dry skin can progress to inflammation of the skin (dermatitis). In this case, you may want to visit your dermatologist to discuss treatments that can help improve your symptoms.
Rashes
A rash is an abnormal change in your skin’s texture or color, usually characterized by a red, scaly irritation on your skin. Because of the sheer number of rashes and their subtle differences, specialized training is required to properly diagnose and treat rashes.
Skin Care Screenings
Skin cancer doesn’t discriminate. Anyone can get skin cancer, whether young or old, fair or dark, and it’s the most common type of cancer in the United States. Most people should have a professional skin examination once a year.
Excisions
Skin excision is a surgery where we cut out damaged skin tissue. It is a full-thickness removal — meaning we remove all layers of the tissue (epidermis, dermis, and into the subcutaneous fat layer). We then suture it back together with stitches for optimal healing.
