Pellevé is a non-surgical technique for skin tightening and wrinkle reduction. Pellevé uses radio frequency to painlessly treat deeper layers of the skin. Unlike other superficial treatments, Pellevé treatments go about two millimeters into the skin to rejuvenate collagen elastin fibers without damaging the top layer of the skin.
Collagen elastin fibers support the skin and hold it onto the muscle. Over time, these fibers get stretched out and lose their ability to snap back. The separation of collagen elastin fibers causes a loss of volume and elasticity, which result in wrinkles and hanging skin.
How Does it Work?
Have you ever had a pair of pants with an elastic waist band that started to wear out? A Pellevé treatment is like the waist band of those old pants retightening and regaining its elasticity. Pellevé uses the deep heat of radio frequency to cause collagen elastin fibers in the skin to recoil or snap back.
The heat of radio frequency waves also kicks everything under the skin into repair mode and stimulates the body to create new collagen elastin fibers. Once you get beyond your early 20s, the body only produces collagen elastin in response to an injury. Pellevé tricks the body into thinking a minor injury has occurred in the treated area to spur collagen elastic production.
Pellevé can be used to treat any combination of the following areas:
- Forehead
- Upper face (forehead, upper and lower eyelid)
- Lower face (mouth, cheeks, jowl)
- Neck
What Should I Expect?
There is no discomfort during a Pellevé session. In fact, it feels like a hot stone massage. There are no visible signs of treatment, so you can apply makeup and resume normal activities with no downtime.
The session take about 45 minutes to cover the full face. Many patients like to add the neck area, so it would take an additional 30 minutes to go all the way down to the collarbone. The treatment involves a series of four treatments, three weeks apart.
Unfortunately, the results aren’t permanent. They don’t fade overnight, but body tissue will inevitably go through the aging process, which is different for each individual. Just like Botox and Dysport, we recommend quarterly maintenance sessions for the best results.
