Dr. Mark McCune is a board-certified dermatologist with over 40 years of medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology experience. His formal education and training include:
- University of Kansas (Lawrence, KS) – BA, Psychology (summa cum laude)
- University of Kansas School of Medicine (Kansas City, KS) – Doctor of Medicine
- Mayo Graduate School of Medicine (Rochester, MN) – Internal Medicine Internship
- Mayo Graduate School of Medicine (Rochester, MN) – Dermatology Residency
Since finishing his formal training, Dr. McCune has participated in numerous courses, workshops, and seminars to learn new procedures and to enhance his diagnostic and dermasurgical skills. Dr. McCune is the former director of dermatologic surgery and assistant professor in dermatology at the University of Kansas School of Medicine. He has actively taught dermatologic surgery to dermatology residents locally and from around the country at both their individual residency programs and in his office based surgical facility. Physicians have come from around the central United States to be trained by Dr. McCune to do JUVÉDERM®, Thermage®, Sculptra®, ThermiTight®, and various laser procedures. He is a locally and nationally recognized expert in dermatology, dermatologic surgery, and office-based surgery safety issues.
In 2001, the governor appointed Dr. McCune to the Kansas State Board of Healing Arts (KSBHA). Dr. McCune was reappointed in 2005 and served until 2008. He was a member of committees involved in issues regarding the safety and supervision of office-based surgery, supervision of non-physician healthcare providers, continuing medical education, and a member of the physician’s assistant council. He has also served the board as a reviewer of office-based surgery issues involving Kansas physicians.
Throughout his career, Dr. McCune has been involved in numerous medical societies on local, state, and national levels as an active member, an officer, and as a participant in various committees.
In his spare time, Dr. McCune pursues golf, traveling, and spending time with his friends and family. He is a professional musician and greatly enjoys performing in his rock band as well as playing contemporary Christian music.
