Dr. Melody Vander Straten is a board-certified dermatologist that specializes in the prevention, detection, and treatment of skin cancer, as well as other disorders of the skin, hair, and nails. Her formal education and training include:
- Trinity University (San Antonio, TX) – BS, Biology
- Texas A&M University Health Science Center (College Station, TX) – Doctor of Medicine
- Naval Hospital Jacksonville (Jacksonville, FL) – Family Practice Internship
- University Hospitals of Cleveland/Case Western Reserve (Cleveland, OH) – Dermatology Residency
Upon graduation from medical school, Dr. Vander Straten served for five years as a medical officer in the Navy. She is a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD), and an active member of the Texas Dermatological Society (TDS), the Pacific Dermatologic Association (PDA), and the American Contact Dermatitis Society (ACDS).
In her spare time, Dr. Vander Straten enjoys traveling, cycling, watching Aggie football games, and spending time with her husband and two adult daughters.
